Laser-cut Pepakura

Figured out how to lasercut pepakura. I’ve got all the settings down for a 45W Epilog CO2 laser, from pepakura’s export options to good, thin fonts for cutting, and how to just cut enough that parts will tear cleanly out of a piece of cardstock. Takes about ten minutes per sheet, though- most of that is the edge IDs.
No cutting. No scoring. Just folding pre-scored lines and gluing it together. Contact me with some pre-sized files if you’d like me to cut you some.

Come Get Your Halo 3 Marine PDOs [Halo Pepakura]

There’s always going to be That Guy.
The guy who
tries(ss) to write(ss) you(ss) out of the forum after you say something they don’t like. The guy who steals your work and reposts it with almost all of your credit(and others’) removed. The guy who jealously guards his work, letting only screenshots and snippets out. The guy who decides he should only release pdfs, because the latest version of his software of choice bit the bullet and wrote in model exporting.
I’m not going to be That Guy. Enjoy.

60 Details Not To Miss At ICFF

by Bradley Derry from bradleyderry.com

Design is details. Design is the tiny elements in a product that work their way into final production from hours of sketching, prototyping, and CAD. Details are what the designers agonize over and what the manufactures spend so much time trying to get just right. This post is a homage to all the people who make these details.
I spent a good amount of time yesterday at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), New York City’s annual showcase for contemporary design. The show brings thousands of visitors each year to see over 500 exhibitors displaying product from all over the world. Many visitors glaze right over the products on display missing many design elements, so I made it a point to pick out 60 details to highlight. Did you spot the same details? Did you spot better ones? Take a look…

kitchen kids

Though only 5% of danish children do so frequently, studies indicate that those who help prepare meals
tend to take responsibility for personal nutrition earlier and to have a improved diets as adults.
denmark-based designers josefine bentzen and charlotte skak have thus created 'kitchen kids:' made specifically for children,
this set of cooking tools allows safe participation at young age and hopes to encourage the adoption of healthier lifestyles.

inviting kids aged 4-7 to cook, 'kitchen kids' consists of a knife, vegetable peeler, grating bowl, chopping board, mixing bottle for dressing,
and protective pair of mittens. using color and form, the sharp tools make a clear distinction between where the tools are are 'dangerous' and 'safe' to hold.
additionally, to assure a safe grip, all handles are made from rubber and have a characteristic bar code pattern that children can identify.

The item which distinguishes this collection as specifically for children is a set of mittens which protects the user's fingers.
made from silicone, they have the same distinctive functional pattern in the palm of the hand, allowing for a good grip on the items to be chopped, grated or peeled.
for additional security, each includes a red buckle to ensure it is secure to the child's wrist.

A transparent bowl is connected to the grater for collecting the vegetables.
it can be tilted in two directions to allow the best ergonomics possible or alternatively used as a serving dish.

Made from silicone, the mixing bottle for salad dressing has a transparent graphic interface that simplifies the recipes for the child.
for instance, a vinaigrette dressing could be made in the following way: 'fill up with the following to no.1 olive oil, no. 2 mustard,
no. 3 honey, no. 4 vinegar, no. 5 salt & pepper. shake well, then squeeze the desired amount over the salad.
